I'd rather you were honest than cheerful! Did you ever read "Bright-sided" by Barbara Ehrenreich? It's about how positive thinking can actually keep people from acknowledging negative realities. Like, for all of my positive psychology leanings, I'm still a pessimist.
There is a natural progression for the laundry basket system. It's probably going to be inevitable. Kids are smart, but do they actually know how things work?
I think some do, but most don't care 😅
I feel like we (people my age) are going to need to go back to school at some point with classes for people like me who just need to get current.
Also, AI is going to kick all of our asses.
The gap between the wealthy and the everyday Joe is going to increase exponentially.
I can feel it already as I am falling through the cracks.
You're not wrong. My primary source of paid work is going to be completely AI-based pretty soon, so I worry about that sometimes. I wish I could reassure you, but many aspects of the future look bleak to me, too.
